Dendrimers as Antimicrobial Agents in the Central Nervous System Infections. A Review

چکیده
Abstract Bacterial meningitis is a serious infection of the central nervous system that affects people all over world. Streptococcus pneumoniae and Neisseria meningitidis are most common pathogens causing meningeal inflammation in Europe. Treatment with standard antibiotics becoming ineffective, not only due to their inability cross blood-brain barrier, but also rising antibiotic resistance. As result, novel therapeutics combat required. A promising solution could be therapeutic nanomolecules, such as dendrimers, some which have antimicrobial properties chemical structure. Additionally, they may decorated suitable homing peptides construct nano-drug delivery systems, can effectively barrier. To synthesize safe dendrimeric it necessary select best dendrimer candidates activity understand pharmacosafety, pharmacokinetics dynamics. This review provides brief overview dendrimers been studied relation barrier existing antibiotics.

ADENOSINE IN THE CENTRAL NERVOUS SYSTEM
Besides being a metabolite of nucleotides like ATP, adenosine is a mediator of neuronal function in the central nervous system. Its actions are mediated by at least three extracellular receptors. In this review different aspects of adenosine such as biosynthesis, release, inactivation and its receptors are discussed. It also covers pre- and postsynaptic effects as well as postreceptor mecha...

Central nervous system infections have long been recognized as among the most devastating of diseases. This article describes the changing pattern and epidemiology of a variety of common central nervous system infections, including meningitis, encephalitis, and brain abscesses, and reviews pathophysiology and the most current approach to clinical diagnosis, treatment, and disposition from the e...
متن کاملThe Role of Mammalian Target of Rapamycine Signaling Pathway in Central Nervous System Cancers: A Review
Mammalian mechanistic target of rapamycine (mTOR) is a conserved serine/threonine kinase in the cellular PI3K/Akt/mTOR signaling pathway. This pathway is modified by cellular alterations such as level of energy, growth factors, stresses, as well as the increased environmental level of cancerous cytokines. In general, increase of this kinase protein function is seen in various types of cancers, ...
متن کاملCentral nervous system fungal infections ; a review article
Central nervous system (CNS) fungal infections have a high rate of morbidity and mortality that increased during last three decades. CNS fungal infections present a diagnostic and therapeutic challenge. High numbers of organ transplants, chemotherapy patients, intensive care unit hospitalizations, immunocompromised patients and haematological malignancies increase morbidity and mortality. Sever...

In this investigation the effects of excess vitamin A administration during the early embryonic period were studied. Intramuscular injection of a single dose of 15000,20000 or 25000 IU/kg vitamin A to pregnant Balb/c strain mice on either day 7,8,9 or 10 of gestation (vaginal plug= day 0 of gestation) produced major malformations in the central nervous system (CNS) including exencephaly, h...
